Overview of Engagement Initiatives
In November 2018, the third round of MSES Engagement Initiatives was approved. These eight newly approved projects bring the total number of Engagement Initiatives to 45. An overview of projects in each of the three rounds follows:
Building Self Awareness and Communication
Dr. Jason Hart
Organize physician retreat to conduct the Insights program (used by the CMA) to learn about self- awareness and effective communication techniques amongst diverse teams.
Diminishing Roadblocks to Hiring Foreign Trained Medical Oncologists and Hematologists at BC Cancer
Dr. Tamara Shenkier
Responding to increased workload and recruitment challenges, research and develop a policy on reducing barriers to licensure of internationally trained oncologists and hematologists.
GI Innovate: GI Physician Leadership Training to Improve Healthcare Delivery
Drs. Dan Renouf & Jon Loree
Improve the functioning and clinical efficiency of the GI clinic by facilitating the participation of 2 physicians in the Physician Leadership Program at the Sauder School of Business.
Medical Oncology Department Retreat
Dr. Ursula Lee
Host retreat to address departmental working environment and communication issues. Proactively address issues of department expansion and complex patient care needs.
Mindfulness Training and Support
Dr. Tamara Shenkier
Renew subscription to MindWell-U program and promote participation in mindfulness education in
order to improve stress management and mental health of Medical Staff.
Provincial Education Day in Interstitial Brachytherapy for Cervical Cancer
Dr. Francois Bachand
Hold workshop on Interstitial Brachytherapy (Cervical Cancer) for all ROs to review recent clinical experiences, share knowledge, and improve implementation of the technique.
Recognition Awards for Medical Staff
Dr. Kim Chi
Initiate an award program recognizing significant contributions of Medical Staff; recipients to be determined by a committee of Health Authority leadership and peers.
Supportive Cancer Care Focus Group Analysis
